IMPORTANT NOTES FOR CADETS ATTENDING MAWG 2010 ENCAMPMENT
Mission: 190 Cadet Training Group provides leadership training
at Fort Devens, MA from 08 Aug to 15 Aug to develop individual skills, foster
teamwork, and educate cadets on what's available to them through the Civil Air
Patrol.
Commander's Intent: Our purpose is to form
character within the cadets that builds upon their experiences. Key to this will
be a safe training environment with quality instruction leading to a positive
learning experience, but one that is also fun and memorable. The endstate for
this week will be well rounded cadets able to make intelligent choices when
faced with different/difficult situations throughout their lives, both in and
out of Civil Air Patrol
Encampment Application packets are now available for download
here. You must also sign
the Devens Release Agreement found here and
the Hold Harmless Agreement here, and include with your application package.
Application and all forms due at Wing no later than 02 Aug, 2010.
Application deadline, meaning the application has
been received by Wing Administrator, is 02 Aug, 2010. All applications must be
postmarked by 02 Aug 2010. Late applications will be reviewed on a case by case
basis.
Please note there have been several drastic changes from the way the 190th Cadet Training Group has handled
medications and medical issues in the past. This year cadets will be responsible
to handle and administer their own medications. While the Medical Personnel will
be aware that a cadet may require medication, they can not and will not
administer it. Medical Personnel can only check to see if a medication has been
taken, if they have been asked by the Cadet’s parent(s)/Guardian(s) and accept
that responsibility.
This year, the 190th Cadet Training Group will have
a limited number of Medical Personnel on staff. The current plan is to have one
EMT per squadron that will remain with the squadron during the Encampment and
one EMT to be a floater amongst the squadrons and group staff. The primary
function of the EMTs will be to triage any injured personnel, determine the
extent of injury, determine mode of transport, and prepare for transportation to
the local hospital. Before any action is taken the Cadet’s Emergency Contact
will be notified and informed of the situation. So if you are a Cadet’s
Emergency Contact please make sure that you provide the most up-to-date contact
information on the forms provided in the application package.
The fee for this year's encampment is $130.00.
Various squadron and wing scholarships may be available, so please use your
chain of command to determine what scholarships may be available and the
requirements to apply for them if available.
If you have
any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email at
john.flaherty@mawg.cap.gov or cell phone at 781.556.1314. For medical questions
someone will be available to answer your questions on Thursday evenings from
7:00-8:00pm, 16 June – 21 July at 781-377-7023.
